In April of 2017, Autodesk released AutoCAD LT, a new iteration of AutoCAD that runs on embedded computers and touchscreens, without the need for a dedicated graphics card. The new AutoCAD LT had been running for about six months in production use on a wide range of hardware. The new release also adds major new capabilities, including cross-platform compatibility and support for 3D objects.

In November of 2018, Autodesk announced a significant update to AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT and Alias|Wavefront, including the introduction of a new concurrent editing feature (formerly called “multi-user” editing).

After using AutoCAD for over 30 years, I find it hard to believe that the software has changed so much over the years. It’s remarkable how much AutoCAD has grown in that time, so the short history of this program is worth revisiting.

The software

The first AutoCAD program was originally released on microcomputers with built-in video cards. It was marketed as a product for CAD operators (CADOs), so it was initially designed to work on a command-line console, with a small screen, simple menus and a command set that required few mouse clicks. As the software grew in capability, several additional user interfaces were added, such as front- or rear-view interfaces and a graphical menu, both of which were based on the same command-line interface.

Several versions of the first AutoCAD were developed: 2, 1 and 0.1. In the 1980s, the main differences between the versions were which version of the OS (IBM PC or Apple II) the application was written for and what number of floating point number-crunching floating point DSPs were implemented.

Versions 2 and 1, which were released in 1983 and 1984 respectively, were closely related to 1.0, but had a number of new features. The most important new feature was the ability to draw “types”, which, unlike an “object”, can be rotated, scaled and translated independently of each other, and can be shared between several objects. Also, they could contain other types, and they could be linked together into a hierarchical structure, the “block”.

CAD interoperability allows users to be able to use a CAD program such as AutoCAD, to create drawings that are compatible with another CAD program, such as DraftSight, or DWG2DXF.

Functionality

AutoCAD is able to create and edit drawings in 2D and 3D, and supports the use of parametric functions. For linear and angular dimensions, automatic check and enter data into the drawing are performed when the dimension is entered by the user or defined by the tool. For circular and spherical dimensions, the function is very similar to drawing the dimension, entering the diameter and distance and centring the circle.

AutoCAD can draw plans, sections, and detail drawings for architectural designs, plumbing diagrams, and piping. It also has basic 2D and 3D drawing capabilities for mechanical designs.

The drawing attributes can be created by the user or by the application itself. There are a large number of attributes for the appearance, behavior, and operation of objects. These are divided into 11 groups. The first group is for general or global attributes and the other 10 groups for application-specific attributes. These groups may be changed at any time and in a wide variety of ways. There are also many ways to manage and edit drawings.

AutoCAD is the flagship product. The latest version of the software was announced at the Autodesk World Conference on June 20, 2010. It is a replacement for the previous version, AutoCAD 2009.

Change the IP address of the remote computer into the IP address of your computer.

Here is an example:

Network.

On the remote computer, open “C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Autocad\app\amcd.app” and edit “netlogon
etlogon.ini” or “netlogon\pwd.dat”.

Find the network information
Find the IP address under “NetTable”, and change it into your computer’s IP address.

If your IP address is 192.168.0.1, then the IP address of “NetTable” should be 192.168.0.0.

Change the IP address of the remote computer into your computer’s IP address
Save the file and quit Autocad.

Then, on the remote computer, the password prompt is changed to your password.

Important note:
After using the IP address above, Autocad could be downloaded from the net again.
The “NetTable” or “NetServer” in the netlogon.ini or pwd.dat file could be changed back to the old IP address.

If this problem happened, you need to change it back.

I can understand making b2b plans and maybe even making marketing plans. In our business we do a great job of branding ourselves and because of that we are able to buy advertising. But really putting out a whole b2b plan and marketing plan and saying we need to make more than just 2.6 million sales per year and say here is where we are going to target our efforts and what type of acquisitions we are looking to make. In my opinion that is a bit overkill but you are the best people to make that decision.

We need to make 4-5 Million per year to break even and continue to grow. But we won’t know if we have really made the investment of time and money until we are doing a little over 5 Million in revenue per year. Even then we are not really doing it right. It is so important to find the right partners and retailers for us.

I think it’s amazing how many internet “business-to-business” and “business-to-consumer” marketers out there (and not so many great B2B buyers), you have to spend more than I would like to.
