Essentialism is a mindset. It is one of the eight core beliefs of Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. It is a way of thinking that has been adopted by Thales and Pythagoras. That is, by passion, seeking perfection, learning a great deal at a time and making mistakes working on a program to change the limiting beliefs which themselves are the original source of unhappiness.
Therefore, the term essentialism comes from the core beliefs. It is having a core set of beliefs, concepts or thoughts which explain and predict the world.
At its most fundamental level, the word essentialism describes the idea of group essentialism. That is, the idea of a ‘divide between those who are essentially more intelligent or talented than others’ is an illusion. In scientific studies, the divide is often a Western one. In China the average academic can do as well as the average American academic. In fact, there are more Chinese students attending university than there are Americans.
At the most fundamental level, ‘essentialism’ describes the idea of the boundlessness of knowledge and truth. In this context, essentialism is the core concept of the discipline of Epistemology.
Essentialism is the discipline of knowledge and truth and the habit of thought that thinks they are different than at the ‘most fundamental’ level.
This means ‘to know’ is not ‘to believe the truth’. There is no such thing as ‘objective knowledge’.
This is because knowledge includes belief. You can’t know that there are three apples until you believe you know and are certain. That is the process of knowing and believing.
Truth becomes something other than the truth because something is ‘true for you�
