BackboneJS + MarionetteJS – updating data
I’m new to Backbone + Marionette and have a doubt about updating data. I’m trying to implement the example from BackboneMarionette. I’ve got the situation where I have two different views that are based on the same Model (single-item.js).
First of all, I have to fetch my data, so in my view of first level I have this code:
var myModel = new App.Models.SingleItem();
myModel.fetch({
success: function (model) {
this.model = model;
}
});
When my data is initialized, it’s displayed (yes, it’s displayed, not deleted and updated). Once I’ve got the’myModel’ and it’s displayed, it makes sense to refresh the HTML on the page.
The problem is: I can’t display my data as a Model. I have to have a model on the page – but I don’t need it. I have the initial content that I need to display, and that’s it.
If my main model is refreshed, will this automatically update the states of the new Marionette views that are based on this model?
From other examples on the Web, I thought of something like this:
this.trigger(‘refresh’);
However it throws an error because this is not a model.
On the other hand, the following code works – but I don’t like using the functions to perform the update, as it’s difficult to test and maintain.
